A specific diesel-fueled vehicles (diesel vehicle with the expired warranty) registered within the emissions control areas since January 1, 2006 in accordance with the 『Special Act on the Improvement of Air and Environment for Seoul Metropolitan Area』 (hereinafter referred to as “Special Act”) is now based upon the stricter emission standards for specific diesel vehicle than ones stipulated for driving vehicle under the Clear Air Conservation Act.
Accordingly, this program requires the owners of a specific diesel vehicle to take the following measures to maintain a proper emission level by satisfying the emission standards for specific diesel vehicle. This program covers a partial of the required expenses by governmental supports.
The owners of vehicle exceeded the emissions standards in the specific diesel vehicle inspection are obligated to take one of the following measures: 1) receive reinspection to meet the required emission level within the stipulated deadline; 2) Install emissions reducer (DPF, pDPF or DOC) or retrofit a LPG (low-pollution engine) within a month from the expiration of inspection date for specific diesel vehicle; or 3) early scrapping for old vehicle.
※ Definition of Specific Diesel Vehicle : A diesel vehicle registered within the emissions control areas (Article 25 of the Special Act on the Improvement of Air and Environment for Seoul Metropolitan Area) in which the warranty has expired (Article 32 of the Enforcement Decree Under Special Act on the Improvement of Air and Environment for Seoul Metropolitan Area, and Annex 8 under same Act
